I was asked to make a Memorial bench for Crowhurst Parish Council for installation in their wonderful millennium garden to replace an old bench which had passed its "use by by date".

They sourced the Oak from a tree which came down locally and was supplied by a local tree surgeon Billy Smith www.sussexcountrysideservices.com.  We agreed 65mm (2 1/2 inch) slabs, which we figured would last a while!

The planks we got from the bench were not wide enough for the original design so I proposed a plan B design (the brief was "no straight lines, not a park bench", I spent some time looking at the planks to figure out how to get the most bench by using the available wood (there was a lot of rotten wood)
