Introduction to green woodworking, and the perfect day event for children and young people (aged 8-15yrs) working with an accompanying adult. Each pair will make one stool together. The finished stools will range from rustic to finely finished depending on the age and experience of each pair.

Learn how to turn a log into a useful pot

we hollow out the log, add a wood base.  Sounds simple!   As your log seasons it shrinks (over the following weeks), which ensures a tight fit for your base.

These pots are perfect for holding pens and pencils, or add a lid

Times: Full day, i.e. 9am-4pm approx

Make a traditional coracle

Using a shave horse, draw-knife and rounding plane.  Make your own wooden reindeer.

Suitable for complete beginners or those who want to hone their skills.

Learn the core techniques used by blacksmiths to shape metal. You will  learn how to bend and shape steel using a forge, hammers and anvils. We will guide you through the steps needed to make a simple object that incorporates many of the fundamental techniques used by blacksmiths.

Cost: £75

Suitable for: over 18s only, no previous experience required

Times: 9am-3pm approx

What is included?

All materials are included in the course fee.

Personal protective equipment is also provided and must be worn at all times. We will provide refreshments.

 

What should I wear?

It is essential that you wear old clothes, and if working on the forge please ensure you have natural fibres i.e. not made of a flammable material such as polyester.

You must also wear sturdy shoes that cover your whole foot

What should I bring?

You might want to bring a note book. Please be aware that there are no cafes or shops within walking distance of the forge.
